Progressivism - Women's Rights

So women call attention to themselves during the Progressive Era in a very necessary way. Using the theme of the early 1900s to get stuff done and fix the crappy conditions American's dealt with, women say, "Hey, why can't we vote?" And so they set out to get that changed. Well... it was a bit more than that... Watch.

Labor's Response to Industrial Growth

Nell Painter on Populism

Bill Moyers is a journalist historian who has a keen sense of how today's society aligns with past issues. In 2008, he interviewed Dr. Nell Irvin Painter, professor of American History. She has studied extensively America's shift from a rural, agricultural nation to a urban, industrial nation.

One of the key elements in her study is an emphaisis on the Populist movement. As an expert in American History, Moyers' asks her about the old Populists and the relevance of their concerns today. We'll watch this video in class.
